One gun owner had the worst flight of his life.
He was unlucky enough to sit next to one of Joe Biden’s anti-gun allies.
And this Democrat harassed him in a nasty way that shocked everybody.
Democrat elites are shocked when they meet people outside of their little cosmopolitan bubble of liberal views.
They cannot believe that there are people in this country who own guns or have conservative beliefs.
And when they meet someone who is different from them, it makes them deeply uncomfortable and somewhat angry.
This was the case on a recent flight, where a man named Rick was just trying to mind his own business.
Rick isn’t a politician or a prominent political activist. He’s just a regular guy who happens to own guns and believe in the Second Amendment.
But the passenger in the seat next to him was a liberal Huffington Post reporter named Nina Vinik who hates guns.
And Vinik proceeded to make the entire flight as miserable as possible for Rick, and then wrote an entire article exposing him to the entire world, despite the fact that he’s just a private citizen.
Here’s what Vinik wrote in her article on the Huffington Post: “A self-described ‘2A [Second Amendment] fanatic’ from Texas, Rick grew up with guns and today owns more than 40 firearms. He considers himself a collector, and many of his guns are antiques — he’s not interested in assault-style firearms — and he makes his own ammunition from recycled casings. In short, Rick is a gun guy, and I was interested in his views on gun violence.”
“I asked what he thought about ‘red flag’ laws that allow for temporary removal of firearms when a gun owner is determined to pose a risk for harming themself or others. Rick didn’t support these types of laws because he doesn’t trust the process.”
Later on, here is what Vinik says about Rick: “So, although Rick was saddened by recent mass shootings, he couldn’t conjure what could be done to prevent them or offer any tangible ways to address, much less reform, our country’s gun culture.”
Then she goes on to give him a backhanded compliment and insinuate that people like him aren’t worth talking to: “Rick was intelligent, well-spoken and rational, and I enjoyed talking with him. But our conversation provides a real-world example of why we should be skeptical of the idea that gun violence will be solved by finding common ground with gun owners. I doubt I could’ve changed Rick’s views, even if we’d talked for an entire international flight.”
Maybe if Vinik thinks someone like Rick isn’t worth talking to because he has strong views that are different from hers, she could have considered just leaving him alone and letting him enjoy his flight.
But Democrats don’t think that way. They have to evangelize their progressive views at every opportunity possible.
And any gun owner who has the misfortune of sitting next to Nina Vinik on a plane is going to be in for a bumpy flight.
