Anti-gun activists never miss an opportunity to push their agenda.
Any time a shooting takes place, the calls for gun control are immediate.
But you’ll never believe just how far they are going this time.
The shooting that took place at Apalachee High School in Georgia was tragic, as it led to the deaths of multiple innocent people.
The perpetrator was an obviously very disturbed 14-year-old who has since been arrested and charged after committing a heinous act against people at his very own high school.
Naturally, people are upset when something like this happens and are wondering what could be done about such situations in the future.
However, instead of focusing on immediate fixes that could have a real impact on reducing the number of school shootings in the future, such as having better security for schools, the loudest voices are clamoring for gun control.
And they are even suggesting that people with normal mental health struggles shouldn’t be able to own a gun.
It’s anyone’s guess which mental health struggles would fall under this ban – things like ADHD could be considered “mental health struggles” – but that is what’s being pushed in Georgia now.
According to Fox 5 Atlanta, “A group of advocates and students are planning a rally on Friday to urge lawmakers to enact stricter gun laws in the wake of the deadly shooting at Apalachee High School.
“Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, metro Atlanta state lawmakers and Barrow County community members are coming together to push for stronger gun restrictions.”
Here is what State Rep. Yasmin Neal said: “When it comes to these bills, we are trying to put up safeguards to make it, whether you are a bad actor or have a mental health issue either way, we can make it difficult for you to have a weapon in Georgia.”
Neal’s comments are especially concerning, since they suggest that someone who is not a bad actor, but who has some form of “mental health struggles,” should be prevented from owning a gun.
Millions of people have “mental health struggles” such as anxiety or autism or ADD, and if all of those people were prevented from owning a gun, the Second Amendment would be practically eliminated.
The article continues, “Under Georgia law, people who have been convicted of a felony, are facing felony charges or have been treated for certain mental health issues within the past five years can’t carry a gun. The 2022 law doesn’t change that. But it removes the background check for a permit to carry a loaded or concealed handgun in public.”
Evidently some Democrats in Georgia want to expand this law, which could be a disaster for anyone in the state who has been diagnosed with a mental health issue.
Not everyone who has a mental health issue is crazy and untrustworthy like they are being portrayed as.
And if these activists succeed at expanding the current laws it could severely undermine the Second Amendment in the state of Georgia.
