The biggest fear of gun grabbers is that people won’t comply with their laws.
That fear is coming true in a shocking way.
Now the politicians in one anti-gun state are panicking as their own citizens defied their gun grab.
Even the most anti-gun states in America, such as Illinois and Massachusetts, have citizens living in their states who own guns and care about their gun rights.
These people may not make up a majority of the state, and they may not have the political power to vote gun grabbers out of office, but they certainly don’t take it lying down when politicians in their state come for their guns.
Illinois recently passed an Orwellian bill that would require gun owners to register their AR-15s with the state, presumably so that the state can come back in a few years and take them away.
Illinois politicians expected AR-15 owners to quietly submit to this new mandate in order to stay out of trouble with the law.
But the opposite has happened. Gun owners across Illinois have refused to register their guns with the state, and now chaos is breaking out.
According to an article just before the New Year from The Truth About Guns, “The so-called Protect Illinois Communities Act demanded existing owners of particularly frightening firearms register their magazine-fed, semi-automatic rifles. These include guns best-suited to self-defense including America’s favorite rifle, the AR-15. The law also bans many semi-auto shotguns and handguns. Then there are the accessories and .50 BMG ammunition that must be registered as well.
“With a December 31 deadline fast approaching, the Illinois State Police released their Week 11 compliance update on Wednesday and it’s a doozy. While thousands of Illinois gun owners have dutifully complied, millions have not. Holders of 15,164 Firearms Owner ID cardholders have registered an average of about 3.5 covered items each.
“Put another way, 2,400,317 FOID holders have registered…nothing. Running that through some public school math, that yields a 99.4% non-compliance rate.”
99.4% is a huge number that has to terrify Illinois politicians. It shows that Illinois gun owners care more about their Second Amendment rights than they do about dictates from the state.
A separate article from Guns Save Life shows why Illinois gun owners are so hesitant to register their guns with the state. The article reports, “So what is next? Following a mass-casualty incident, especially if it happens in the Land of Lincoln, the Governor will announce a plan to ‘close the existing owner loophole.’ Their words, not ours.”
“Governor Pritzker will back legislation to call for those who have registered guns and accessories to surrender those registered items to the police after 90 days or so. Failure to do so would result in felony charges.”
In other words, this gun registration scheme is explicitly the prelude to a massive statewide gun grab of all registered guns.
It’s no wonder that gun owners in Illinois are refusing to register their firearms with the state. They know what the state is going to do to them next.
