This crackdown on guns unfolded in a horrible way that the gun-grabbers didn’t expect.

And the leaders who passed this law are watching in horror.

One country’s massive gun control law led to horrifying results and pure chaos.

Following in the footsteps of its neighboring country of Australia, New Zealand used to have reasonably loose gun control laws – by global standards – but then cracked down on them in recent years.

Guns are not as big a part of the culture there as they are in the United States, and there are fewer citizens who are willing to actively fight for their rights.

That led to a sweeping new gun control law in response to a mass shooting that led to onerous new requirements for gun ownership.

These are the type of requirements that would never hold up in court in the United States, thanks to the Second Amendment. But in countries that don’t have a Bill of Rights like we do, there is less of a legal framework to protect people’s rights.

However, this gun crackdown has not been going well for New Zealand, and the politicians who passed it have to be second-guessing their decision.

According to Bearing Arms, “New Zealand used to have some pretty decent gun laws, at least in comparison to the rest of the world. The restrictions they had would never have stood here in the United States, but people could get guns without some of the issues they’d have trying to get them elsewhere.

“Then the Christchurch shootings happened and everything went to cr*p.

“Since then, New Zealand has passed substantial gun control legislation, all meant to restrict guns and keep them out of the wrong hands.”

“But a recent incident raises questions about just how well those gun laws are actually working.”

The article then links to a story from 1 News in New Zealand about a man who managed to get his hands on a significant amount of firearms and ammunition despite the law.

“An Auckland man has pleaded not guilty in Auckland’s Waitākere District Court this morning to a number of charges related to the unlawful possession of firearms.

“His appearance in court for the second time comes after police say a ‘significant’ stash of firearms and some explosives were seized from two New Lynn properties in mid-December.

“In total 35 firearms were located, along with more than 15,000 rounds of ammunition. The man was initially facing 29 charges related to the unlawful possession of firearms and magazines, and for the supply of cannabis.”

It’s almost as if people can get their hands on guns no matter what, even if the government tries to ban them.

The politicians in New Zealand are scratching their heads wondering how this happened.

But they should be looking in the mirror, since their reliance on gun control to fix all of society’s ills has created this mess.

And now perhaps New Zealand will think better of their decision to crack down on guns and will instead respect the rights of their citizens.
