The gun control lobby is wreaking havoc.
And they’ve set their sights on one of the most heavily gun-owning states in America.
Now chaos has erupted as a result of their gun control efforts.
Tennessee is one of the most conservative states in America and has an extremely high percentage of gun owners.
Even those in Tennessee who don’t own guns for one reason or another tend to be supportive of the right to bear arms. It is as Second Amendment-friendly of a state as there is in America.
But after the Covenant shooting in Nashville, the gun control lobby descended on Tennessee looking to take advantage of the tragedy.
They have been pushing their agenda to try to get new gun laws passed in Tennessee that would restrict the rights of gun owners.
And while these bills should be non-starters, the state legislature is now considering them.
However, this has caused a backlash on the other side, with pro-gun legislators introducing bills to expand the right to bear arms.
And the Tennessee legislature has turned into a chaotic scene where both sides are fighting over whether citizens of the state should be allowed to exercise their constitutional rights.
According to Bearing Arms, “The Covenant shooting in Nashville, Tennessee rattled the entire state. That, in turn, set the stage for the legislature to become an absolute circus.
“A special session was held ostensibly to consider gun control measures, but really did little else except allow some state lawmakers to up their profile.”
“The special session yielded no new gun control laws to speak of, but some are pushing for them once again. In addition, some pro-gun bills are up for consideration.”
Here is one of the worst gun control bills on the table in Tennessee this session: “SB 1693, sponsored by Sen. Raumesh Akbari, D-Memphis, would create a state gun violence prevention office within the Tennessee Department of Safety. The office would be tasked with collecting data on gun violence with an aim at developing prevention strategies.”
However, it’s not all bad. Some Republicans have introduced bills that would give employees of schools a way to defend themselves if the nightmare scenario of a mass shooting ever comes true.
For instance, according to the article: “HB 1202, a bill that would allow school staff to carry concealed handguns on campus, could emerge as high-profile legislation early in the 2024 session. It is a holdover from 2023 and could be poised for a full House vote at nearly any time.”
This will be a wild session of the legislature as they sort through these conflicting bills and decide whether the natural rights of Tennessee citizens should be taken away or not.
Gun rights advocates are doing everything they can to make their voices heard in Tennessee and let politicians know that they are watching to see if their rights are protected.
2024 will be a huge year in Tennessee as the gun control lobby pushes to strip citizens of their right to bear arms.
