A judge has decided that the entire Second Amendment is invalid.
She made a stunning announcement in her courtroom.
And gun rights in America have never been in this much peril.
Judges are supposed to adjudicate the law, not create the law. Their personal opinions on what the law should be are not supposed to have any bearing on how they rule.
Some judges, however, go into it for all the wrong reasons. They enjoy the power that the position bestows on them, and they wish to exert that power in any way possible.
One judge in New York clearly has a massive gripe with gun owners and the Second Amendment. It makes her extremely angry that people are allowed to own guns in this country.
She is certainly allowed to feel that way if she wants, but to use it as the basis to make decisions in her courtroom is indefensible. It is completely outside of her role as judge.
And scandal erupted as she announced publicly that the Second Amendment has no validity in the state of New York and will not be recognized in any way.
According to RedState, “A Brooklyn man has been convicted of 13 weapons charges after having been arrested and charged in 2022 for building his own firearms. Dexter Taylor’s ordeal could become a landmark Second Amendment case in light of the Bruen ruling handed down in the same year.”
“From the beginning of Taylor’s trial, it was evident that the court would be biased against the defendant, according to Varghese, who explained that two judges presided over his case before the current official, Judge Abena Darkeh, took over.
“The judge disrupted Varghese’s opening statement multiple times as he tried to set the stage for Taylor’s defense. Even further, she admonished the defense to refrain from mentioning the Second Amendment during the trial.”
Here is what Taylor’s attorney, Vinoo Varghese had to say: “She told us, ‘Do not bring the Second Amendment into this courtroom. It doesn’t exist here. So you can’t argue Second Amendment. This is New York.’”
In other words, Darkeh effectively struck down the Second Amendment in her courtroom. She believes no one should be allowed to own guns, and she intends to enforce that.
The article continues, “Judge Darkeh attempted to shut this argument down and led the jury to believe they would face consequences if they did not vote to convict Taylor. In reality, this is not the case. Jury nullification is not illegal, according to Varghese.”
The judge even went so far as to threaten the jurors into voting to convict this man, making them think they could lose their freedom and their livelihoods if they did not.
It is clear that this is a rogue judge who is out to cause chaos and abuse her power to disrupt civil society.
This ruling needs to be immediately overturned by a higher court, and the judge needs to be held accountable for her extreme abuse of power.
