Gavin Newsom had a devious plan to strip all Americans of their gun rights.

He was certain that this plan was going to succeed.

But something went seriously amiss and he was embarrassed as his plan fell apart.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is an extremely ambitious politician who thinks he is far more important than he actually is.

He even gallivanted across the country in a covert attempt to campaign for president, even as the Democrat establishment made it clear that they were supporting Biden for re-election.

On the gun issue, Newsom thinks that he has the solution for the whole country, and he was hoping that his California gun control package would spread like wildfire nationwide.

Many of his allies in the gun control lobby were hoping the same thing. But it turned out that they were sorely disappointed.

Newsom’s attempt to change the Constitution fell flat on its face and gained virtually no traction outside his home state of California.

And his failure in this mission showed how little political appeal Newsom has nationwide, and how unpopular gun control is outside the most liberal areas.

According to Cal Matters, “One year after Gov. Gavin Newsom proposed changing the U.S. Constitution to place new restrictions on gun ownership, no other states have joined his campaign for a 28th amendment.

“Even as Newsom continues to tout the effort — largely through social media advertisements that encourage people to sign a ‘petition’ and donate to his political action committee — it appears to have gained little traction outside of California. Legislative leaders in several other large states controlled by Democrats told CalMatters that calling for a constitutional convention to adopt the amendment has not come up for discussion among their caucuses.”

On one hand, Newsom’s agenda here shows the danger of a constitutional convention, for those conservatives who have thought about pursuing that.

But it also shows that gun control is a losing issue, and Newsom is a losing politician.

The article continues, “Newsom spokesperson Nathan Click said the governor’s team focused this past year on laying the groundwork for the campaign, which they plan to reinvigorate in 2025, when most states will begin new legislative sessions. That has primarily involved getting the public invested through the online petition, which is effectively a way to expand the political action committee’s mailing list, and by training volunteers.”

The fact that Newsom and his team spent so much time on this, and the effort utterly fell flat on its face, should be a wake-up call for anti-gun politicians everywhere.

The pet issue that they have pushed so hard is losing steam, and even some of the most progressive states are refusing to sign on to an effort to change the Constitution.

America is a pro-gun country, and politicians can either get on board with that or suffer the political consequences.

Gavin Newsom has learned this the hard way, and he is not happy after the total failure of the gun control master plan that he schemed up.
