The walls are slowly closing in on gun owners.
And it’s happening in a Republican state that no one would have expected.
Now the gun control lobby has broken their silence and admitted their shocking scheme.
One would expect that in a Republican state with a high gun ownership rate, legislators would be tripping over themselves to expand gun rights and appease their constituents.
But often times the exact opposite happens. Legislators who have liberal views but run for office as Republicans for political expediency end up caving to the gun control lobby.
This has become a common theme in Republican states, where many voters will simply vote for anyone with an “R” next to their name, even if that person is a Democrat in disguise.
It is rearing its head in Iowa, a state where Republicans ostensibly control all three branches of state government.
The state is explicitly allowing local municipalities to ban guns, and now gun control is spreading within the state.
And gun control activists and lobbyists are openly celebrating as the Republican government of Iowa hands more power over to them.
According to KRCG News, “Activists in Dubuque rallied to celebrate recent decisions that they say will improve gun safety on a local scale. The Dubuque Coalition for Nonviolence and Moms Demand Action hosted the rally.
“The groups say school board leaders in Dubuque have decided against allowing teachers and staff to carry weapons at school.
“Governor Reynolds signed a law in April allowing districts to opt into allowing that.”
Instead of standing strong on pro-gun principles, the governor is trying to appease the anti-gun minority in the state and making schools less safe in the process.
There is no political benefit that can possibly come to her by doing this, since Iowa is a state that supports gun rights. And yet she is doing it anyway, which should raise eyebrows.
The article continues, “The groups say they are also encouraged by a recent Supreme Court decision. It bars people who are the subject of domestic violence restraining orders from owning weapons.”
“The Dubuque Coalition for Nonviolence says as it calls for further change, it is not focused on taking guns away, but promoting safe use and responsible storage of firearms.”
Here is what one of the activists said: “There’s encouraging things going on, and we like to keep people positive and engaged, rather than giving up. We will never give up, never give in.”
Gun owners should heed that warning, as the anti-gun lobby has proven that they will never give up on their quest to disarm Americans.
Regardless of the lip service that they pay to being “not focused on taking guns away,” their actions have proven otherwise.
And they will make use of Republican politicians who are squeamish about guns in order to further their agenda.
Now gun control activists in the state of Iowa are thrilled by some of the recent developments that were helped along by the political mistakes of their Republican governor.
