Gun owners simply aren’t going to put up with being pushed around anymore.
They are standing up for themselves and their rights against the anti-gun bullies.
And this is throwing the gun control regime in one key state into chaos.
Colorado is an odd state in the sense that it has a lot of gun owners and a lot of conservative regions of the state, but overall it is a left-leaning state that is run by Democrats.
The reason for that is because Denver is one of the most liberal cities in America, and the conservative parts of Colorado are too sparsely populated to push the state Republican.
But that doesn’t mean those conservative communities don’t exist, and they certainly do not like being pushed around by the anti-gun politicians who control Colorado politics.
Some of Colorado’s gun control laws have clauses written into them that allow communities to opt out if they so choose, and that is exactly what has started happening.
Conservative municipalities in Colorado have decided they have had enough of the state’s gun control, and they are taking full advantage of their right to opt out.
According to Bearing Arms, “The state of Colorado rolled anti-gun after the theater shooting in Aurora. Since that time, they’ve fully and completely embraced anti-gun legislation, adding more and more every year.”
“One quirk of Colorado’s law is that apparently, local governments can opt out of it. We talked last week about one community that’s at least considering it.”
“It seems that town is far from alone.”
Gun grabbers in Colorado are surely regretting the fact that their prized gun control laws allow for local governments to opt out.
It’s surprising that it has taken so long for these communities to do so, but they are finally taking advantage of their legal rights and protecting their citizens from the gun control regime.
An article from Complete Colorado goes into more detail: “Douglas County Commissioners enacted the opt-out back in May, citing the long American tradition of the ability to protect oneself.
“The resolution, however, only affects county buildings and spaces. Municipalities within Douglas County will still be bound by the law unless they also opt out, which it appears at least one community plans on doing.”
“At its first meeting in June, the Castle Rock Town Council passed an ‘emergency ordinance’ blocking the restrictions. Other municipalities known to have passed similar resolutions include Monument and Palmer Lake in El Paso County.”
“Weld County is currently in the process of opting out as well, said Weld County Commissioner Chairman Kevin Ross.”
Momentum is building in these counties towards extracting themselves from the state’s oppressive gun control system completely and protecting the Second Amendment instead.
This would be a tremendous blow to the anti-gun Democrats who run the state and expected their dictates to be obeyed.
But apparently there is an escape hatch in the laws that they passed, and conservative gun rights supporters are happy to make full use of it.
