Liberal judges are doing anything they can to impose their views on society.
They hate guns and believe they should be banned.
Now they are rebelling against the Supreme Court and violating their pro-gun ruling.
The American legal system is a hierarchy, and the Supreme Court gets the final say, whether people like the way that they rule on things or not.
Judges in lower courts are supposed to abide by the decisions that the Supreme Court makes, even if it goes against their personal beliefs about what the law should be.
After all, judges are not lawmakers. Any judge who wants that kind of role can very easily quit their job and run for public office instead.
But as long as they remain a judge, their job is to interpret the law as written, and give fair and balanced rulings by putting aside their personal views.
Many judges seem to have no interest in that, however, especially when it comes to a hot-button issue like gun control.
And some judges are flat-out ignoring the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision and simply handing down the ruling that they like.
According to Bearing Arms, “The Bruen decision was supposed to put an end to the lower courts interpreting the law however they wanted, but that was probably never a viable option. Too many judges are more rationalizing than rational, looking for anything they can cling to in order to issue the ruling they wanted to give all along.
“Yet the history, text, and tradition standard made it a bit harder for them to do so. They have to have something to cling to. With intermediate scrutiny, it was easy. Now, it’s a lot more difficult, which is how Bruen was supposed to end such nonsense.
“Unfortunately, it hasn’t, and as a result, court rulings are conflicting with one another.”
Many judges grew up in educated, elite environments where guns are not part of the culture.
As such, they are uncomfortable with gun ownership and not particularly friendly to the Second Amendment.
The Washington Examiner reports: “First, a federal judge in Kansas appointed by former President Donald Trump caught national attention on Aug. 21 after he dismissed a case for a defendant facing felony charges for possessing a machine gun. Later in the week, two federal appeals courts swung the opposite direction to uphold other restrictions on firearms, with one decision upholding bans on felons possessing guns and a separate appellate court agreeing to uphold a Maryland handgun licensing law.”
The fact that liberal judges still think they can uphold laws like this, in spite of the Supreme Court’s ruling, shows how little they care about the Supreme Court.
They don’t see themselves as neutral arbiters of the law, but as activists who want to use their power to influence society as they see fit.
This sets a very dangerous precedent where people in power can do whatever they want and violate their oaths of office freely, which is something that puts all of us in a bad situation.
