These anti-gunners may soon have to face a judge.
There is a lawsuit being filed that could ruin their plans to implement a gun ban.
Now they are scrambling to try to figure out what to do.
In spite of the fact that liberals have tried to gain a foothold in Texas to turn it blue, Texas is still a very conservative state.
There are countless Texans who own guns, and in some cases a lot of guns. They don’t take too kindly to anyone’s attempts to take them away.
When the Texas State Fair announced that they would prevent people from carrying guns on the fairground, it sparked a major controversy as many felt it went directly against Texas values.
But the organizers clearly are not friendly to guns in the way that most Texans are, and they did not want anyone carrying.
Now Ken Paxton, the attorney general of Texas, is filing a lawsuit that could throw a wrench in their plans.
And he is forcing the city of Dallas, which is organizing the State Fair, to scramble as the last thing they wanted was to have to face a judge.
According to Fox News, “Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton threatened to sue the city of Dallas over a new policy banning concealed carry at the much-anticipated State Fair of Texas.
“The State Fair announced last week that no guns would be allowed on fairgrounds unless carried by retired or active peace officers.”
Of course, as anyone who has been to a gun show knows, more guns in a specific location does not mean more violence. In fact, the truth is quite the opposite.
Virtually no one would ever dare to open fire at a gun show, as they are surrounded by people with guns. The same would be true at a state fair where a large number of people were carrying.
Here’s what Paxton posted on X, formerly Twitter: “Texas law clearly states that license to carry holders may not be prevented from carrying a firearm on property owned or leased by the government unless otherwise prevented by state statute. The State Fair of Texas’s recent policy that infringes on LTC holders’ Second Amendment rights is unlawful.”
“Dallas has fifteen days to fix the issue, otherwise I will see them in court.”
Gun owners are surely happy that Paxton is sticking up for them, and people who attend the fair should be happy if he ultimately succeeds.
After all, being surrounded by “good guys with guns” is about the safest situation someone can find themselves in. They are naturally protected by the people around them.
There is no way to ever guarantee that violence won’t occur, but at least if it were to occur in a situation like that, people could feel comforted by the fact that there are people around them who are equipped to deal with the situation.
The city of Dallas may want to prevent that, but Ken Paxton is doing everything he can to make sure they don’t succeed.
