Gun owners in one state may have to pack their bags soon.
Their government delivered a warning to them.
And now a crackdown is coming like nothing they have seen before.
Virginia is a purple state that has flipped back and forth between Democrat and Republican control over the past couple of decades.
It is also a state with relatively high gun ownership, as 44.6% of households own a firearm, according to data compiled by HubScore.
But in the most recent election, Democrats won control of both chambers of the legislature, bringing with them a tsunami of new anti-gun politicians.
In the past, anti-gun politicians in states like Virginia frequently were hesitant to overreach on guns, knowing that many of their constituents owned guns.
But now, these politicians are more afraid of being primaried by someone with more extreme gun control views, and so they run as far to the left as they can on gun control to save their seat for re-election.
And now that they have control of the Virginia legislature, they are wasting no time getting down to the business of taking people’s guns away.
According to FirearmsNews.com, “Fresh off of winning a razor-thin one-vote majority in the state House of Delegates in the last election, Virginia Democrats have shown where their priorities lie by making an ‘assault weapons’ ban the second measure introduced for the upcoming session beginning in January. Identical measures in both the House and Senate—SB2 and HB2—would ban many common firearms used for a number of lawful purposes, along with commonly owned standard capacity magazines that come stock with many firearms purchased. Philip Van Cleave, president of the Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), said the bills being introduced so early says a lot about anti-gun Democrats’ priorities this session.”
Here is what Van Cleave had to say: “That’s a sort of an indication that they’re going to be putting gun control as the second highest priority that they’re going to be working on. I warned everybody in our alerts that if we didn’t win the elections, if we didn’t get the House and the Senate under control—especially if we lost both—that they could count on an assault weapon ban and extending the red-flag law.”
It’s clear that Democrats believe gun control is one of the primary issues that motivated their left-wing voters to come out to the polls on Election Day, and now they are repaying those voters by pursuing drastic gun control measures.
The article continues, “Van Cleave hopes Virginia gun owners will see the introduction of the bills as the threat it truly is and buckle down to fight against gun-banners in the Assembly.”
Virginia gun owners are going to have to organize quickly and fight to protect their rights from the politicians in the legislature who are recklessly targeting them right now.
If this bill passes, it will be devastating to citizens across Virginia who value their freedoms and just want to see their leaders follow the Constitution.
