A massive gun control bill may be on the verge of taking effect.
Gun grabbers are celebrating their stunning victory.
And the Second Amendment is in deep trouble after this bill passed.
Pennsylvania is one of the most heavily gun-owning states in the Northeast. One would assume that politicians in Pennsylvania would be wary of attacking the rights of their constituents who own guns, since there are so many of them.
But anti-gun politicians have become emboldened in recent years, and Pennsylvania is no exception.
The political polarization that our country has undergone is creating a new breed of anti-gun politicians who have no desire to represent the average constituent in their district, but instead are just trying to appeal to the most radical members of their base in order to avoid primary challenges.
Pennsylvania is perhaps the best example of that, and it’s now resulting in gun control bills being passed.
The Pennsylvania House of Representatives is now fully controlled by Democrats, and the governor is a Democrat as well.
And they are using their power to ram through bills that take away the rights of gun owners in their state.
According to the local PBS affiliate, WHYY, “Democrats in majority control of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives advanced several gun control measures Wednesday, including one that would ban sales of automatic and semi-automatic guns, after years of standstill in the politically divided state government.
“The bills were passed by the Judiciary Committee on party lines and await the full House’s consideration.”
These bills would be disastrous in a state like Pennsylvania where many people fall into the categories that the legislature is now attacking.
If Pennsylvania politicians get their way, many gun owners in Pennsylvania may have to choose between giving up their guns or being out of compliance with the law.
The article continues, “The slate of bills that passed Judiciary on Wednesday would balance gun ownership with protecting average citizens, Democrats argued.”
This, of course, is nonsense. No balance is being struck here. The bills directly attack the right of ordinary Pennsylvanians to keep and bear arms.
Here is an example of a bill that is being pushed: “One bill the committee approved would ban future sales of ‘assault weapons,’ defined as automatic and semi-automatic firearms. Sponsors cited the use of high-capacity semi-automatic rifles in a number of mass shootings, including in Pittsburgh, where a gunman carried out the deadliest antisemitic attack in U.S. history in 2018 armed with an AR-15 rifle and other weapons.”
AR-15s are one of the most popular guns in America and are widely owned, including in Pennsylvania.
Should law-abiding Pennsylvania residents who peacefully own AR-15s have to worry about the state government coming after them? After all, there’s no reason to think these politicians will stop there if they successfully pass these bills.
Pennsylvania gun owners need to make their voices heard and fight back against these bills that are being pushed by anti-gun politicians in their state legislature before it is too late.
