The New Mexico gun ban is back on the table once again.
A judge took the governor’s side and approved her unconstitutional scheme.
Now gun owners in New Mexico are in serious jeopardy.
When Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham of New Mexico first announced her plan to completely ban the carry of guns in Albuquerque and the surrounding area, she was laughed at.
Even her own Democrat allies thought that this plan would never go anywhere, since it was clearly and blatantly in violation of the Second Amendment.
But they underestimated the willingness of a liberal judge to ignore the Constitution and engage in judicial activism from the bench.
Lujan Grisham never gave up on her gun ban after an initial loss in court, narrowing it to public parks and playgrounds.
And now it looks like the ban is a go after a liberal judge handed down a court ruling and gave her the green light to enforce the revised gun ban.
Gun owners in New Mexico have some hard decisions to make after hearing this news about their rights being taken away by an overreaching governor.
According to the Associated Press, “A federal judge cleared the way Wednesday for enforcement of a public health order that suspends the right to carry guns at public parks and playgrounds in New Mexico’s largest metro area.
“The order from U.S. District Judge David Urias rejects a request from gun rights advocates to block temporary firearms restrictions as legal challenges move forward.”
Now, as the article goes on to say, Lujan Grisham is celebrating victory as she chips away at the Second Amendment and moves toward a total gun ban.
“It marks a victory for Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and her advocacy for temporary gun restrictions in response to recent shootings around the state that left children dead.”
This move is almost certainly going to embolden governors in other states to try similar types of schemes in order to deprive gun owners of their rights.
The article continues, “The standoff is one of many in the wake of a U.S. Supreme Court decision last year expanding gun rights, as leaders in politically liberal-leaning states explore new avenues for restrictions.
“In New Mexico, the restrictions have ignited a furor of public protests, prompted Republican calls for the governor’s impeachment and widened divisions among top Democratic officials.”
New Mexico may be a small state, but it is a key battleground right now as anti-gun politicians try to gradually strip away more and more rights from law-abiding gun owners.
If the courts continue to green-light these efforts, then there truly is nothing stopping these politicians from completely destroying one of the most fundamental rights in our country.
Michelle Lujan Grisham was the first politician to try such a brazen move to take away gun rights, but she almost certainly will not be the last.
As Joe Biden fills the federal courts with his ideological allies, leftist politicians across the country will increasingly feel like there’s nothing stopping them from taking away people’s guns.
