The state of New Mexico is revolting against their governor’s attempt to ban guns.
She has declared war on their rights, and they are fighting back.
And now she is losing the fight for gun control in New Mexico.
Michelle Lujan Grisham, the governor of New Mexico, has positioned herself as the most anti-gun politician in America.
While most politicians dance around the gun issue and try to frame their gun control proposals as “common sense” legislation that is not meant to “take anyone’s guns away,” Grisham went right to the extreme.
She flat-out banned the carry of guns in Albuquerque and the surrounding areas, despite warnings that her plans were wildly unconstitutional and would never hold up in court.
Thankfully, the courts did indeed strike down her law, but that has not stopped her from continuing to pursue the harshest gun control laws imaginable.
And in the process, she is drawing significant blowback from the gun community in New Mexico.
Now, they are mobilizing to stop her in her tracks before she successfully destroys the entire Second Amendment in their state and takes away all guns.
According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, there was a massive rally at the State House against Grisham. “The crowd gathered in freezing temperatures to oppose a handful of gun control bills making their way through the Democratic-majority state Legislature.
“Speakers repeatedly said violence in the U.S., while concerning, stems from societal problems such as poverty, failing schools and inadequate prosecution of criminals, not guns. Sanctioning law-abiding gun owners will not keep people safe, they said, but rather prevent people from being able to protect themselves from gun-toting criminals and the possibility of a tyrannical government.
“‘With all the things going on, it’s even more important to have the guns,’ said Victor Segura, a veteran and gun collector who came to the rally from Albuquerque.”
This rally sent a huge message to Grisham that the gun community in her state will not go quietly into the night, and is going to fight back against her extremism.
The article continues, “Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and other Democratic leaders have made strengthening New Mexico’s gun regulations a priority for the 2024 legislative session. One bill making its way through House committees would prohibit people under 21 from buying or possessing an automatic or semi-automatic gun or magazine holding more than 10 round of ammunition, with several exceptions for activities such as hunting or shooting in competition or on private property supervised by family.”
While these proposals thankfully fall short of her total ban on guns that she tried to implement before, they are still grotesque violations of the Second Amendment rights of New Mexicans.
If they passed, they would make New Mexico one of the most anti-gun states in America, and gun owners in the state would have to consider whether they want to stay.
But the gun community in New Mexico has shown Gov. Grisham that they will fight to the very end to protect their rights.
