This political leader did something incredibly brave.

He was faced with a dangerous and difficult situation.

But he stood his ground against federal gun control.

When tragic mass shootings happen, the gun control lobby immediately springs into action to use it as a catalyst to pass restrictions on guns.

They know that these shootings shock the public, and that they have a small window after each one of them to capitalize on the events to convince politicians to pass gun control laws.

Oftentimes, Republican politicians who call themselves “pro-gun” will get weak in the knees and cave to the gun control lobby in situations like that.

After all, for many politicians, their loyalty is to their own political career above all else, and if they think they are going to get criticized for supporting gun rights, they will sell out gun owners in a heartbeat.

But one leader in Missouri did just the opposite in the wake of the deadly shootout between two criminals at the Kansas City Chiefs parade.

He stood his ground against gun control and continued to defend Second Amendment rights despite harsh criticism from the media.

According to Western Journal, “In the wake of mass shootings, the locales that fall victim to this violence face immense pressure to pass stricter gun laws.

“Even though there’s little evidence that enacting gun control laws does anything to curtail mass shootings, Democratic lawmakers can’t help but insist that new restrictions on firearms are the only way to prevent such incidents.

“Missouri, however, is one state that refuses to cave to the pressure following the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade on Feb. 14 that left one person dead and 20 others injured.”

The leader who is primarily responsible for this refusal to cave to the gun control lobby is Attorney General Andrew Bailey.

Bailey is vowing to continue to defend Missouri’s Second Amendment Preservation Act even in the wake of pressure to abandon it after the shooting.

Here’s the background of this law, according to the article: “It began in June 2021 when Republican Gov. Mike Parson signed the Second Amendment Preservation Act, which declared as ‘invalid’ all federal laws that infringe on the constitutional right to bear arms.”

The Biden administration immediately filed a lawsuit against Missouri seeking to eliminate this act. But Bailey has pledged to continue to defend this law in court.

The article continues, “And yet despite the renewed calls for stricter gun laws that inevitably follow a mass shooting, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey made it clear he is determined to defend the Second Amendment Preservation Act in court.”

This decision by Bailey took a lot of political courage that many politicians don’t have.

He is getting savaged by the left for taking this stand even after a shooting took place in his home state.

But Bailey knows that the Second Amendment is necessary to keep America free, and he is continuing to defend gun rights even in a difficult situation.
