One Big Tech company made a sudden move against gun owners.
It was unexpected and caught everyone off guard.
They are trying to collect data on gun owners for some extremely dangerous purposes.
It is well-known by now that TikTok is a company that is linked dangerously closely with the Chinese Communist Party, something that has raised serious concerns among U.S. lawmakers.
Many people continue obliviously using the app, ignoring the very real dangers associated with using an app that is essentially a tool of a hostile foreign government.
Now TikTok has focused its attention on a few select groups of people, including gun owners.
They are seeking to collect massive amounts of data on gun owners and gun rights supporters, among other political groups in the U.S.
What they are looking to do with that data is anyone’s guess, but it is almost certainly nothing good.
All of the data they collect is easily accessible by Chinese Communist Party leaders.
And if the U.S. doesn’t do something to stop this from happening, it could be a disaster for millions of American citizens who are being targeted.
According to CBS News, “In a fresh broadside against one of the world’s most popular technology companies, the Justice Department is accusing TikTok of harnessing the capability to gather bulk information on users based on views on divisive social issues like gun control, abortion and religion.
“Government lawyers wrote in documents filed late Friday to the federal appeals court in Washington that TikTok and its Beijing-based parent company ByteDance used an internal web-suite system called Lark to enable TikTok employees to speak directly with ByteDance engineers in China.”
It appears that the goal of this effort is probably to inflame tensions between gun rights supporters and people who support gun control, with the hopes that it will lead to civil unrest.
Of course, that would be disastrously bad for everybody, and is something that should be avoided.
The article continues, “TikTok employees used Lark to send sensitive data about U.S. users, information that has wound up being stored on Chinese servers and accessible to ByteDance employees in China, federal officials said.
“One of Lark’s internal search tools, the filing states, permits ByteDance and TikTok employees in the U.S. and China to gather information on users’ content or expressions, including views on sensitive topics, such as abortion or religion. Last year, the Wall Street Journal reported TikTok had tracked users who watched LGBTQ content through a dashboard the company said it had since deleted.”
It’s been clear for quite some time that the Chinese Communist Party wants to manipulate Americans.
Now they are using the gun issue to do it, which should be concerning for everyone who cares about the Second Amendment.
After all, there is perhaps no country in the world more hostile to gun rights than China.
If Americans want to hang on to their gun rights, they would be best advised to get rid of TikTok and avoid exposing themselves to CCP spying.
