Gun owners would be wise to heed the warnings of this man.
He was held hostage due to anti-gun policies.
Now he has finally been released, but with a serious and terrifying warning.
Many people visit the Turks and Caicos Islands every year hoping to relax and enjoy a break from work and life in a tropical paradise.
That’s what Tyler Wenrich was trying to do, but what he ended up getting was something far different than the relaxing vacation he thought he had signed up for.
The Turks and Caicos Islands have brutal gun control laws with outrageously long sentences for even very minor gun offenses.
And they clearly were trying to make a point about their dissatisfaction with the fact that America allows its citizens to own guns.
As a result, they arrested Tyler and 4 others for accidentally having a few rounds of stray ammo in their suitcases and threatened them with over a decade in prison at a minimum.
Tyler has since been released, but his case stands as a warning that nobody should visit the Turks and Caicos Islands anytime soon.
According to Fox News, “A Virginia man arrived at the Richmond airport on Thursday after he was released from custody on the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), where he had been detained for having ammunition in his luggage.
“Tyler Wenrich – a 31-year-old husband and father – is one of five Americans arrested and detained on the islands since February for having stray ammunition in their luggage, a crime punishable for up to 12 years on the islands.
“The other detained Americans are Ryan Watson, 40, of Oklahoma; Sharitta Grier, 45, of Florida; Bryan Hagerich, 39, of Pennsylvania; and Michael Lee Evans, 72, of Texas.”
It’s clear that these people are essentially hostages being taken by a government that has a bone to pick with the United States.
Many other countries are resentful of the gun freedom that we have here, and don’t understand it.
The article continues, “Wenrich was greeted by applause as he touched down at Richmond International Airport after spending three weeks in jail and paying $9,000 in fines for unknowingly possessing ammunition in his luggage while visiting the island nation.”
Here is what he had to say upon returning: “It feels good to be back with my wife and my kid. I’m just exhausted and honestly happy to be back.”
It must have been a terrifying experience for him being thrown in a foreign prison and told that he won’t be getting out for over a decade.
And it was all over a couple of rounds of ammo that he likely just missed while packing his suitcase. He didn’t even have a gun to shoot those rounds with.
What was the Turks and Caicos government worried about, that he would throw them at somebody?
Americans should avoid the Turks and Caicos Islands at all costs. They may have beautiful scenery, but they are run by radicals who are looking to imprison Americans for political reasons.
