No one expected this state to enact such a horrific gun grab.
But anti-gun Democrats took control and went to work on destroying the Second Amendment.
Now the millions of gun owners in this state are terrified about what comes next.
Michigan is a state which, up until recently, had a legislature that was controlled by Republicans and seemed to be a relatively safe place to own a gun.
But that all changed after the seismic election of 2022, in which Democrats swept into power and immediately began implementing their radical agenda.
They made it clear that their goal was to make Michigan one of the most anti-gun states in America, and they are doing just that.
This is in spite of the fact that, according to a report from WiseVoter.com, 38.9% of Michigan residents are gun owners. In a state of over 10 million people, that means that almost 4 million Michiganders live in a gun-owning household.
But the Democrats are trying to get that number down to zero. And they are well on their way after passing a radical gun control bill and sending it through to Gretchen Whitmer’s desk for signature.
According to an email from Great Lakes Gun Rights, the Michigan chapter of the National Association for Gun Rights, “Late last night, the Michigan House of Representatives passed more gun control on a party line, 56 to 53, vote.
“As passed by the House, HB 4127 prohibits possession of a firearm within 100 feet of a polling place, within 100 feet of an early voting place while early voting is taking place, within 100 feet of a city or township clerk’s office accepting early voting ballots 40 days prior to an election, and within 100 feet of a ballot drop box 40 days prior to an election.
“Because it applies within 100′ of a ballot drop box 40 days before an election and Michigan has three regular election dates in May, August, and November plus the new February presidential primary, it would prevent open carry without a CPL within 100′ of a ballot drop box for 160 days out of the year. Many of these drop boxes are located along city sidewalks or within 100′ of roads and streets.”
Gun Owners of America also put out a statement. They said, “These new monstrosities, House Bills 4127 and 4128, would prohibit law-abiding Michiganders from possessing firearms at polling places — expanding dangerous ‘gun free’ zones and leaving you unprotected from criminals who would seek to harm you while you exercise your right to vote.”
Since these ballot drop boxes are located in public places, these bills effectively make it illegal to carry in public for a period of time leading up to Election Day.
After all, someone might not know if they are within 100 feet of a ballot drop box, and then find themselves arrested for “voter intimidation” when they were simply carrying for self-defense.
Michigan is trying to make their state the most anti-gun state in America, and they are well on their way to succeeding.
