It was an embarrassing moment for one anti-gun lawmaker.

She tried to introduce a bill to crack down on guns.

But she wrote it completely wrong and made a ridiculous mistake that had everyone laughing at her.

Gun-grabbing politicians make it clear all the time that they truly do not understand the issue at all, and now there is yet another example of this out of Maryland.

Maryland is already one of the most restrictive gun control states in America. There is absolutely no reason for them to pass any more gun laws than they already have.

And yet politicians in that state constantly feel the need to pander to their progressive constituents and self-promote by introducing gun control bills that are more and more extreme.

One legislator in the state tried to do that, but she didn’t pay enough attention to what she was actually writing.

As a result, her bill would have ended up banning the police from carrying guns, much to her surprise.

Now she is being clowned for this mistake, which resulted from being too focused on publicity and not focused enough on understanding the issue itself.

According to Bearing Arms, “Of all the oddities and contorted positions taken by the anti-gun lobby, the notion that police are perpetrators of ‘gun violence’ yet should be exempt from virtually every gun control law is one of the most grating, at least to me. Even Democrats opposed to qualified immunity for law enforcement are quick to shield them from any restriction on gun ownership. In California, for example, law enforcement officers aren’t limited to purchasing handguns on the state’s roster as everyone else is, even though it gives cops an incentive to break the law and sell off-roster guns to their buddies, associates, or strangers.

“’Assault weapons’ bans? Exempt. Magazine restrictions? Exempt. One-gun-a-month? Nah, buy as many as you’d like. Insurance mandate? Well, that’s where it gets interesting, at least in Maryland, where Del. Terri Hill has introduced a bill mandating that anyone who lawfully carries a gun in public must also carry a $300,000 liability insurance policy. At least, that’s how the bill was originally written. When Hill was informed that she hadn’t exempted law enforcement per usual, however, she was quick to pledge to make things right with police.”

This is a wild mistake that, if the bill had passed into law, would have resulted in police officers having to fight gang violence in dangerous cities like Baltimore without even carrying a gun.

It would have almost certainly led to the resignation of the entire Baltimore police force, and perhaps police officers in other places as well.

It’s clear that Del. Hill was not paying attention when she wrote the bill. Perhaps she was giving more time and effort to her press release promoting herself for fighting back against “gun violence.”

Anti-gun politicians have introduced some crazy bills over the years, but this one may take the cake over all the others as the most ridiculous.
