Gov. DeSantis knew that he had to take action against this gun control scheme.
He was prepared to face the blowback of the liberal media.
And he struck a blow for gun rights that made Joe Biden furious.
Ron DeSantis has proven that his approach as governor to take the fight directly to the Left was not just an act.
Months after his presidential campaign ended, DeSantis is still going after the worst schemes of the Biden administration and using his power to confront them head-on.
The latest scheme, which involved the surgeon general declaring gun violence a “public health emergency,” threatens to impose gun control on the nation by executive fiat.
DeSantis recognizes how disastrous this could be, as it would empower Joe Biden to do whatever he wants on gun control with no checks and balances from Congress.
He decided to take action against Joe Biden for using one of his executive branch agencies in this sneaky way.
And he confronted Biden head-on and struck a devastating blow for gun rights that will leave the anti-gun Left with no way out.
According to The Hill, “Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said his state will not comply with the Surgeon General’s newly issued public health advisory on gun violence, calling the move ‘unconstitutional’ in a post on the social platform X on Wednesday.”
“U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy declared firearm violence a public health crisis on Tuesday, citing a consistent rise in firearm-related deaths.”
DeSantis knows that this will get him blowback, not only from the liberal press that supports gun control of all kinds, but from Biden himself who will not like having his power challenged by a political rival.
However, DeSantis has shown that he is perfectly fine with receiving political blowback like this, as it means he is having success fighting back against the Left’s worst schemes.
The article continues, “DeSantis indicated he would treat the new advisory with the same resistance he directed to pandemic-era measures during the spread of COVID-19.”
Here is what DeSantis had to say: “During COVID, unelected bureaucrats used ‘public health’ as a pretext to deprive citizens of their rights– and I signed legislation to protect Floridians from government overreach. Now, Biden’s Surgeon General is attempting to violate the Second Amendment through the ‘public health’ bureaucracy.”
It remains to be seen what moves the Biden administration will make to try to counter DeSantis’s resistance to their “public health emergency” declaration.
They certainly do not like when states resist their fiats, and it is entirely possible that this case will end up in federal court.
Of course, at that point, it is simply a matter of whether the judge who handles it is a conservative or a liberal.
Either way, Ron DeSantis has put the Biden administration in a very uncomfortable position after their aggressive move to push forward gun control.
And now Joe Biden is in a pickle, as he has not yet figured out an effective way to respond to what Ron DeSantis did.
