The rogue agency known as the ATF has proven that no one is safe from their attacks.
Their job is to take guns away from people at any cost.
And they have launched a horrific attack on an innocent man who owned guns.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is perhaps the most rogue government agency in the United States, right up there with the FBI, CIA, and NSA.
Allegedly they exist to police “illegal firearms,” but their actual role goes far beyond that.
They were involved in the Waco Siege of 1993, initiating a raid that ultimately led to the deaths of over 70 men, women, and children, all in the name of taking away guns – most of which were legal – from a quirky religious group.
Of course, the leader of that group was also engaged in other illegal activities, but that’s not what drew the ATF’s attention – it was the guns.
Now they are using their power to target a man who has a clean criminal record, all because he had one conviction in the past which was ultimately expunged from his record altogether.
According to Fox 2 Detroit, “The way Jeramy Wilburn sees it, he only messed up once. The poor decision-making of a child shouldn’t determine one’s freedoms for the rest of their life, he argues.
“The 34-year-old Allen Park resident was known for making YouTube videos about gun safety. He’s also a fan of sport shooting and until this past November was free to partake.
“Then the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agency took away his firearms because of a past domestic violence conviction which happened years ago. This, despite having the conviction expunged in 2022.
“Wilburn’s conviction was a misdemeanor in 2008. As punishment, the judge put him on probation and ordered him to take a domestic violence class – no jail time. And in February 2022, that one mistake was wiped from his record.”
When you have a conviction expunged from your record, you have a clean record. You are innocent. As Bearing Arms says in a blog post that links to this article, “Wilburn’s record was expunged. Legally speaking, it was like his conviction never happened. It was wiped from his record.”
In other words, Wilburn should have been treated no differently than anyone else when it came to his ability to own firearms.
Now, Wilburn is suing the ATF to give him his guns back. The Fox 2 Detroit article continues, “But, in a federal lawsuit brought by Wilburn and Morris, the two argue that isn’t the case. They argue Wilburn should be allowed to possess a firearm.”
The ATF is claiming they have a right to take his guns away because he could hypothetically be convicted of something else in the future.
That argument could apply to anybody. Any citizen of the United States could commit a crime tomorrow, but of course most won’t.
However, the ATF apparently believes it is safer to just take everybody’s guns away now, in case they commit a crime. And that is going to lead to many innocent people having their rights attacked.
