A major gun grab is about to take place in a critical state.
The state government has its eyes on taking guns away from its citizens.
And the media is cheering as gun owners are under vicious assault.
Guns are less prevalent in the Northeast than they are in other parts of the country. Fewer people own them and they are simply not as big a part of the culture.
That doesn’t mean, however, that the Second Amendment doesn’t apply to those states just as much as it does to any other state.
There are gun owners in Massachusetts, in Rhode Island, and in Connecticut, who deserve to have their rights defended no less than anyone in Alabama.
It’s getting more and more difficult, however. The Rhode Island Legislature is about to take up a set of bills designed to strip gun owners of their rights.
The media is cheering on the efforts to pass gun control in Rhode Island.
And this could turn out to be extremely bad news for anyone in the state of Rhode Island who owns guns and wants to have their rights protected.
According to ABC 6 News, “Several bills will be discussed Tuesday at the Rhode Island State House Judiciary Committee, among them a piece of gun legislation.
“The new bill sponsored by Rep. Jennifer Boylan would introduce wording of ‘crime gun’ into the bill for weapons, meaning any firearm used in a suspected crime.”
“Other aspects of the bill would introduce examinations for the crime guns, including police departments submitting the firearms to state labs for testing of the gun’s casings and to have the weapon entered into a national database.
“This would be for the purpose of keeping a closer eye on gun usage.”
Elsewhere, the Providence Journal cheered on the prospect of passing a so-called “assault weapons ban” in Rhode Island this year, and gleefully reported that the AFL-CIO is helping in this effort.
Here’s what the Providence Journal said: “The battle began anew Thursday for an assault-weapons ban and safe-storage requirements for firearms, with organized labor taking a lead role in the 2024 election-year drive.”
“Patrick Crowley, the secretary-treasurer of the 80,000-member R.I. AFL-CIO, also had a central role at Thursday’s State House news conference to promote the bills and pledges organized labor’s support.”
The fact that a labor union is getting involved in this fight shows that the whole left is unifying behind the push for gun control this year.
They clearly believe that Rhode Island is ripe for the picking, since it is a blue state that has a relatively low rate of gun ownership.
These politicians do not believe that the voters will punish them for passing gun control, and they can do whatever they want.
That’s why it is up to gun owners and gun activists in Rhode Island to prove them wrong.
The only way these types of gun grabs will stop is if politicians fear losing their seats if they vote for it, and it’s time for Rhode Island gun owners to stand up and make that happen.
